An NDIS provider is an individual or organisation that delivers funded disability support services to participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Providers can be registered (audited and approved by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission) or unregistered.

Services delivered by NDIS providers include personal care, Supported Independent Living, therapy and allied health, transport, support coordination, plan management, behaviour support, community participation, and assistive technology — all matched to each participant's plan and goals.

Is Skycare Solutions a registered NDIS provider? +

Who is eligible for NDIS funding? +

To qualify for the NDIS, you must meet all of these criteria as set by the National Disability Insurance Agency:

  • Age: Be under 65 years old when you apply
  • Residency: Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa
  • Disability: Have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities (or be a child under 7 needing early intervention)
  • Location: Live in Australia

How do I apply for NDIS funding? +

Applying for NDIS funding involves four key steps:

  • Step 1 — Check eligibility: Use the NDIS Access Checklist or call the NDIS on 1800 800 110.
  • Step 2 — Submit an Access Request Form: Phone the NDIS, request a paper form, or get help from a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Early Childhood Partner.
  • Step 3 — Provide supporting evidence: Medical reports, functional assessments, and reports from allied health professionals describing how your disability affects everyday life.
  • Step 4 — Planning meeting: If approved, you'll meet with an NDIS planner or LAC to develop a personalised plan including your goals and funded supports.

What is the difference between a registered and unregistered NDIS provider? +

Registered NDIS providers (like Skycare Solutions) are formally audited and approved by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. They must meet the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct, and they can deliver services to NDIA-managed, plan-managed, and self-managed participants.

Unregistered providers have not been through the formal audit process. They can only deliver services to plan-managed or self-managed participants — not NDIA-managed.

Both types must follow the NDIS Code of Conduct, but registered providers offer additional accountability, oversight, and protection for participants.

How long does NDIS support last? +

There is no fixed end date for NDIS support. As long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria and your disability remains permanent and significant, you will continue to receive funded support.

Plans are typically reviewed every 12 months. During the review, the National Disability Insurance Agency may adjust your level of support based on changing needs and progress against your goals. You can also request an earlier review if your circumstances change significantly.

How do I find a registered NDIS provider near me? +

You have several options for finding registered NDIS providers in your area:

  • NDIS Provider Finder — the official tool on the NDIS website lets you search by postcode and service type
  • Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Support Coordinator — they can recommend providers matched to your needs
  • NDIS Commission Provider Register — the official register of all registered providers and their service categories
  • Community recommendations — participant peer groups, disability advocacy organisations, and family networks

How much do NDIS services cost? +

If your supports are funded in your NDIS plan, there is usually no out-of-pocket cost to you. All NDIS services are charged within the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which the National Disability Insurance Agency reviews and updates each financial year.

Can I switch NDIS providers? +

Yes. NDIS participants have full choice and control and can change providers at any time. To switch to Skycare Solutions:

  • Contact our team to discuss your needs and current plan
  • Give your current provider notice as required in your service agreement (usually 14–28 days)
  • We prepare a new service agreement and begin delivering services from your chosen date

The process is straightforward and we handle most of the administrative side for you.
