What Is Support Coordination?

Your Guide to Getting the Most From Your Plan

Support coordination is a Capacity Building support that helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with the right services, and build the confidence and skills to manage your supports over time. Your coordinator is in your corner, turning a complex plan into real, practical support.

Plan management takes care of the financial side. Your plan manager pays your providers, tracks your budget and handles the paperwork, so you can focus on your goals. It works well with our self-care, SIL and community participation services, and our NDIS Price Guide explains the costs.

Manages the money

  • Pays your provider invoices on time
  • Tracks your budget so you do not overspend
  • Handles claims and NDIS paperwork
  • Lets you use non-registered providers
  • Sends you clear statements of your spending
  • Frees you to focus on your goals

Direct answers to the questions we hear most. See our full FAQ page for more.

What is NDIS support coordination? +

Support coordination is a Capacity Building support that helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with the right providers, and build the skills and confidence to manage your supports over time. Your coordinator helps turn a complex plan into practical, real-life support that works towards your goals.

What is NDIS plan management? +

Plan management takes care of the financial side of your NDIS plan. Your plan manager pays your provider invoices, tracks your budget so you do not overspend, handles the claims and paperwork, and sends you clear statements. It also lets you use both registered and non-registered providers.

What is the difference between a support coordinator and a plan manager? +

A support coordinator connects you to supports and helps you use your plan, building your skills and confidence. A plan manager manages the money, paying invoices and tracking your budget. In short, the coordinator organises your supports and the plan manager organises your funding. Many participants have both.

What are the three levels of support coordination? +

Level 1 is Support Connection, which builds your ability to connect with informal, community and funded supports. Level 2 is Coordination of Supports, which coordinates a range of supports and builds your skills to manage your plan. Level 3 is Specialist Support Coordination, a higher level of support for complex situations. Your plan sets out which level you have.

How much does support coordination cost in 2026-27? +

Under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 (from 1 July 2026), the National hourly limits are $80.06 for Level 1 (Support Connection), $100.14 for Level 2 (Coordination of Supports) and $190.54 for Level 3 (Specialist Support Coordination). Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is $110.44 per weekday hour.

How much does plan management cost? +

For 2026-27 the plan management monthly fee is $104.45 per month (National). It is funded separately in your plan from Improved Life Choices, so it does not reduce the funding available for your other supports.

Which budget covers support coordination and plan management? +

Support coordination is funded from your Capacity Building budget. Plan management is funded from Improved Life Choices, which is also part of Capacity Building. Both are funded on top of your other supports, so using them does not take away from your Core or other budgets.

Can I have both a support coordinator and a plan manager? +

Yes, and many participants do. They do different jobs, the coordinator organises your supports and the plan manager organises your funding, so together they take a lot of stress out of running your plan. You can also choose them independently of each other.

How do I get support coordination in my NDIS plan? +

At your planning meeting or plan review, explain that you need help to understand and coordinate your plan, especially if your situation is complex or you have many supports. Ask for support coordination in your Capacity Building budget, and plan management in Improved Life Choices. We can help you prepare for that conversation.
